We are a healthy school.

The Welsh Network of Healthy Schools Scheme (WNHSS) is a national network of local healthy school schemes, which support schools in their area to promote health. The scheme is a Welsh Government programme managed by Public Health Wales.

The aim is to work through all seven topics of the scheme as you progress through the phases. The health topics are:

  • Food and Fitness

  • Emotional Health and Wellbeing

  • Substance Use and Misuse

  • Personal Development and Relationships

  • Environment

  • Hygiene

  • Safety

Currently at Thornwell we are working on the fifth phase of the healthy schools acreditation. At the end of phase 5 there is a National Quality Award for excellence that we can work towards.
